Water Supply Planning

The Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) leads water supply planning in Illinois by estimating current and future water availability and demand. We work with partners, especially the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), to identify water supply options that support long-term planning and sound decision-making.

Explore Planning Regions

Illinois has ten unique Water Supply Planning regions and one subregion that organize planning work across the state. Explore regional boundaries, county coverage, and planning status for each region or subregion.
