Mapping Agricultural Irrigation
IWIP’s interactive Center Pivot Irrigation Map displays reported irrigation activities throughout Illinois.
IWIP calculates representative irrigation totals for each county or irrigation area by using individually reported data, field data, or another ground-tested method. These representative acre-inches are then applied to the county or area totals to calculate estimates and compensate for missing data.

The Public Water Supply Resources Map shows the amounts of water public water facilities in Illinois reported withdrawing from surface waters and groundwater sources. This map was last updated in December 2021.
Illinois Municipal Water Use Map
Communities either extract water from their own wells or intakes (self-supplied water), buy water from another community or public water distributor (purchased water), or have a combination of self-supplied and purchased water.
The Illinois Municipal Water Use Map shows how over 1,300 communities in Illinois obtain their water, detailing the amounts of self-supplied and purchased water for 2012. Please note that not all communities and public water distributors reported in 2012.
Through the map interface, users can save maps in various print formats and export attribute table data as a CSV file. Users can also download the 2012 municipal water use dataset.
