Explanation of Terms on Your Water Inventory Form

Each section of the Illinois Water Inventory Program’s water inventory form helps us accurately track water use across Illinois. Use the descriptions below to check your information before submission.

TermDescription
Facility IDAn 8-digit number printed near the top left corner of your form. This ID helps us classify your facility in the IWIP database. Categories include public water supply, industrial-commercial, irrigation, conservation, and fish and wildlife. For public water systems, this number matches your Illinois EPA ID, with a “9” added in the fourth position.
Facility NameThe official name of your facility, as listed in our records. If the name has changed — for example, due to new ownership — please update it on the form.
Name/titleThe name and title of the person responsible for overseeing water operations at your facility, typically an administrator, superintendent, or facility manager.

SIC CodeThe Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code identifies your primary business activity, according to the Standard Industrial Classification Manual.
